The Hospital:
Netaji Eye Hospital (NEH) traces is roots to 1938 when NetajiSubhash Chandra Bose, during the ongoing freedom struggle, implored his comrade and fellow freedom fighter Annada Prasad Chakraborty (the pre-Sannyas name of Swami AsimanandaSaraswati) to address the problem of blindness amongst the destitute population of Purulia district in West Bengal. From early camp based treatment in 1953 to a 10 bed eye hospital in 1954 to its current 100 bed facility located in Ramchandrapur village, Dist. Purulia West Bengal, Netaji Eye Hospital has a rich history of providing quality eye care and surgeries in the Purulia district and neighboring areas of West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar under the aegis of Sri SriBijoykrishna Ashram Relief Society.

Mr. Chakraborty started his career as ASM, M/s. JogamayaPharmeceuticals, Orissa for M/s. S.B.Pharmaceuticals, New Delhi and then joined East & West Private Limited, Kolkata in the middle management cadre, and rose to the rank of Regional Director (Technical & Market Development Services) for Dow Corning Corporation, USA.
In 1995, he joined the Health Care sector and started working with Aravind Eye Care, Madurai to develop the Eye Care Projects of Eastern India (A project of Allied Dunber - Sight Savers International – Lions Aravind Institute of Community Ophthalmology).
Mr. Chakraborty worked as Administrator for Netaji Eye Hospitals, West Bengal till 2000 and then joined as CEO & Administrator of M.P.Birla Group for their Eye Hospitals, Eye Bank at Kolkata. He is currently associated with Sri SriBijoykrishna Ashram Relief Society as the Executive Committee Member and also General Secretary CUM CEO for all the hospitals & wings throughout India- Netaji Eye Hospitals.
Association with SEF, USA:
NEH is a new partner hospital for SEF USA,boarded during 2019-20 with an initial pilot funding tranche of INR 40 Lakhs (USD 57,000) that was used by the NEH for purchasing 2 new buses for transporting camp patients to the hospital for free surgeries. NEH is in the process of allocating 2,000 surgeries to SEF, USA against this infusion of funds.
